Companies headquartered or doing business in California face unique labor and employment issues. At the same time, their in-house counsel and HR professionals must deal with a host of federal and state employment laws as well as laws impacting the provision of employee benefits. To address these issues, Drinker Biddle has created the California HR Team, an interdisciplinary group of lawyers from our labor and employment and employee benefits practice groups who are based in our San Francisco and Los Angeles offices. Their role will be to assist California firms in meeting the challenges of intersecting, sometimes confusing and often complex laws, with a special emphasis on avoiding problems before they happen.
Examples of current issues: same sex marriages, contingent workforce issues and protection of confidential data.
